What historical process led to the birth of the young city of Tel Aviv, emerging from the 4,000 year-old city of Jaffa to eventually become Tel Aviv-Jaffa? Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 with the dream of becoming "Israel's New York." While comparisons aside, that dream has certainly come true. Today, Tel Aviv stands as Israel's economic powerhouse, with its thriving high-tech hub, and is recognized as a global city. A significant part of Tel Aviv, the White City, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, thanks to its unparalleled concentration of International Style architecture, including the iconic Bauhaus design. The unique blend of Western modernism in this Eastern Mediterranean city, with influences from the Orient and the Balkans, and its renowned Tel Aviv-style coffee shops, has created a distinctive atmosphere. The culture and way of life in Tel Aviv are something you can truly experience only by spending a few days and nights here.
